No DMs, No Growth? Fix Your Bio and These 3 Posts (Made for Dietitians)
===
[00:00:00] Now you might be showing up. You also might be posting consistently, but your direct messages, you're getting crickets. If you feel this way, you're not alone. Many dietitians assume that your showing up is enough to attract clients, but Instagram is not a referral directory. It's a conversation platform, and I think many dietitians forget about that when they're looking at their overall strategy.
Here's the truth. If your bio isn't clear and your posts are not consistent and don't invite action, then people aren't gonna message you. In today's episode, I'm gonna walk you through a simple bio rewrite formula, three post types that turn the larks into leads, and then real examples from dietitians who've made small tweaks that have helped them book client consults within anywhere from 24 hours to a week.
Firstly, you wanna take [00:01:00] a look at your bio on Instagram because no one wants to direct message a mystery. All right. Some of our clients, like one of our clients, A-P-C-O-S dietitian, she had this clean aesthetic and consistent content, but her bio was not clear. She said, helping you feel better through Food Women's Health Advocate.
which is not a bad start, right? It sounds good, but it didn't answer the basic, who does she help? And what does she help with? And then what are people supposed to do next? So again, you wanna think about who you help, what you help with, and what to do next. So she ended up rewriting the bio with our support to struggling with PCOS and help you manage symptoms and feeling control with simple non restrictive strategies, D-M-E-P-C-O-S to learn more.
And that bio change alone got her two direct messages the next day. So this is a plug and play formula that I want you to remember. I help who, insert who that is for you with [00:02:00] insert what? Using insert method. Whatever method you have. And then DM me in quotes, whatever that word might be, to learn more.
So if you're in, renal area, you can say, dm me, renal, or if you're in diabetes, you can say diabetes. Like whatever fits for you. so again, I help insert who with, insert what? Using insert method. DM me. Insert word. To learn more. So the checklist would be a clear specialty or clear enough if you're not sure exactly.
Just have some type of idea. Outcome-based language. Like symptom management. That is outcome-based language. Direct call to action. Inside of the library, we do give you some templates that make this a really fast process. We actually have done for you content that we've created that you can plug and play to make Instagram content creation and posting much more manageable.
The next step includes, what I tell you if you were my client. So this feels personal, direct, and useful. And it positions you [00:03:00] as a helper, Not just somebody who's posting content and even getting lost in the Instagram algorithm.
So for an example, if you were my client and you told me you're skipping lunch because you're too busy, here's what I'd say, right? So one of weight loss dietitian posted this, about plateaus and she ended up getting three messages within a week. And it works because you show your voice and you sound like it's coaching or counseling, and it also attracts people who are more ready to act.
The third step would be a post type of why I don't do this anymore. let's just stay with why I don't do this anymore. One of our members inside the library posted that they used to recommend cutting dairy for every GI issue, and I don't anymore, and here's why.
And that did lead. to an actual sale. All right, so I want you to try this formula. I used to believe blank. Here's what changed. This one shift helped my clients get better results, right? So you're talking about things that maybe were [00:04:00] myths. Maybe you had a different interpretation of in the past, and this kind of content is really engaging and interesting for people who wanna learn more about the problems that you solve.
this type of post builds credibility through transparency, right? So it's a really powerful combination of credibility and transparency because you're lending to some, emotion when you're having these conversations. Now, the fourth step or tip would be the type of post that says, if you're struggling with blank, read this, right?
So you can. Insert whatever you want. So this would be called like a soft invite if you're short and compassionate and also intentional. So lemme give you an example. If you just got diagnosed with pre-diabetes and you feel overwhelmed, I see you. Here's what I'd say. If we were sitting down together. All right.
That post alone got one of our clients a sim, very similar post I did swap out. It was pre-diabetes from another condition. that post got, multiple saves and I think five shares from one of our clients, [00:05:00] within a day. And that was a lot higher than this client's previous performance.
So it works because it's emotional and not just educational. Again, you're seeing a theme here. Emotional content, vulnerability is transparent and relatable. So people want to see that, but it's not enough just to do it once a month. You have to be consistent. And so we want you to set some intentions about how often you're posting.
'cause none of this works if you're not consistent. All right. And this does speak directly to pain points and it builds connection without over explaining. So as a bonus, if you want more dms, start the conversation first. Don't wait passively for people to reach out to you. You can initiate and reach out to them.
So let's say three times a week, go into your follower list and then react to one of their stories, or reply to a comment, create a comment on their post, on one of their recent posts, or DM somebody that's a new follower and just let them know. Thank them for being there.
[00:06:00] Heavy work to do. But if you keep that, you can even set a timer. And if you set a chore to do this regularly, it's gonna help you not only build your presence, but also feel more engaged with the community, no matter how big or small it is that you started to craft on Instagram. So one of our clients at a Pickett Eating dietitian, she did this consistently and she was able to book a new session, that same exact week.
Just from reaching out and engaging to existing, followers, and again, reacting to a story. Reply to a comment. Or DM a new follower. So you can choose one of the three, or you can do all of them. Set a timer for 10 or 20 minutes, a couple times a week, up to three times a week, and really start to build relationships.
And then you can have conversations and learn about what people are interested in. Visibility builds trust, and trust is gonna help you build booking. So even if you don't directly get a booking, or let's say you have interest, but somebody doesn't buy right away, remember, you're still moving in the right direction.
So [00:07:00] try one of these post types that I've mentioned above this week, and then I want you to DM us. Go for the dietitian boss on Instagram and let us know how it went. Share with us how this is going and what you have found the easiest part about following these steps I've given today. So it's not that your content is broken, it's just missing a bit of strategy.
For most of you, it's consistency. For those of you who are consistent, you're posting regularly every week. It might be that there's not enough vulnerability and transparency in your content.
Content and your language that's speaking to the actual problems I mentioned earlier today. Symptom management. So make sure you're understanding what exact problem you're solving that your audience struggles with, and if you can relate to that, connect to it, and have some transparency and vulnerability and be consistent.
You are well on your way to building relationships and creating a system where people are more likely to book with you and refer to you. With a clear bio like we mentioned today, and just a few intentional post types that you can [00:08:00] recycle. You can turn your Instagram into a system. Where you can get people interested in what you do, whether that's brand partnerships or paying clients, or you're selling programs without burning out or trying to go viral, you don't need to go viral.
