Why You Don’t Need a Website to Start Making Money as a Dietitian
===
[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to the Dietitian Boss Podcast. My name is Libby Rothschild and I'm here to help you grow your business with confidence. If you think you need a perfect website before you can get your first client, I'm here to tell you that is a myth. You don't need a website to get started. In fact, waiting on one can delay your success as a Dietitian.
So in today's episode, I'm gonna show you exactly how Dietitians are booking their first clients without a website, so you know what to focus on instead and when it does matter. the first myth in this conversation, and this does come up a lot in our community, where Dietitians are asking when they need to build a website.
So you might be thinking that a website helps you look legitimate, and that's not always true. one of our members inside of the library, which is our month to month membership, kept telling herself that she wasn't ready, to promote herself and [00:01:00] make some sales as a Dietitian until her website was done.
it took her months and months of tweaking colors in the fonts. she didn't have any clients 'cause she was spending all of her time making a pretty website. once she shifted her focus to outreach, using the scripts that I give you inside of our library, she was able to book a discovery call within a week.
So it does, it turns out that people care more about what you say in direct messages than what fonts you use on your website. All right, so what's important to do is to make sure that you are tapping into friends and family and making an effort to do warm outreach, and that's gonna help you get closer to landing clients, including, yes, building your online presence, but you don't have to build a website as the very first step.
You will need one long term. A website is important, but it does not have to be the first step. In fact, we have a lot of clients that are reaching their income goals and helping a lot of clients, and they're not. They don't have a website yet. So [00:02:00] legitimacy does come from taking action, not just aesthetics, like a pretty website.
Again, it can help, but you don't need it right away. So clients are gonna hire humans, not URLs, right? Not domain names. So your potential clients, they're on social media, of course, reading your posts and watching your stories, and they're wondering, could this person help me? So a real example is one of our clients, Laura, is a Dietitian, focusing on IBS, and she used Instagram stories and a free checklist with a call to action, right?
She used a template that we give inside the library, and she was able to book three calls in a week. She has no website without any problems. So I want you to think about posting stories on Instagram this week because that can help you build your online presence without needing a website.
Think one educational tip. One personal insight and then one call to action. And then you're gonna book a free consult, a free sales call with that person. So again, an educational tip, [00:03:00] teaching them something about IBS and this example, a personal insight that could be something from an experience that you've had, or even it could be a reference from the research and make sure you're using calls to action.
So the second truth I want you to learn is that speed matters more than perfection. So this is something we all get tripped up on. I know I have, and I still do, but less so than previously in my, business career. So every week. That you delay showing up online or at all, right? even with outreach, you are delaying showing up because you're waiting on your website, right?
that is a week that someone else is getting to your client. So the more that you delay showing up, you give a chance for the people you wanna help to seek help from somebody else. So think of showing up as helping. Your potential audience, your potential client and community, find the solutions that they're deeply in need of finding.
So I'm gonna give you a little bit of a case study, one of our clients and our [00:04:00] community and our membership. She's working full time, like many of you, and building her business on the side, right nights and some weekends. And she was able to use our content calendar and our DM script system, and she booked five clients, right?
inside of our library, you get caption templates, DM reply scripts, and you get a lead tracker to help manage your outreach efforts so that you can feel really organized with growing your business.
You don't need any tech set up to get started, right? You can start incorporating tech later on. So when you might be wondering, okay, when should I build a website? So a website does make sense. After you've proven your concept, meaning you're already making money. So what we recommend here at Dietitian Boss is to wait until you've made at least one to $2,000 from your services, because at this point, when you've been able to hit at least one or $2,000 in revenue, then at least.
You validated your offer, meaning that you know that people are willing to pay, and then you've had some client [00:05:00] conversations so you could get a sense of what people are telling you or their problems, and then you've learned what your audience really cares about, right? And that's at minimum. Some of you wait a lot longer than your first one or $2,000, but that is a benchmark that I would say, you don't need to worry about a website until you've made your first one or $2,000.
So at this point. A website can become a conversation. meaning your website can serve as an opportunity to get more people to become clients or even to join your email list if you have one at that point, or to maybe purchase, let's say an ebook that you have available.
So when you're ready, we do give you plug and play website templates inside of the library so you're not building from scratch, but you don't need to do that first. The first template that might be the most helpful would be, we have, form templates, client form templates that you can edit and you can either send them PDF or you can customize them in your EMR.
Whether you do or don't use an EMR, those client form packets are really helpful. So those include [00:06:00] policies and procedures, initial intake form, food journal form, testimonial form, feedback form, et cetera. So it's a packet that I've designed for you, whether your insurance, cash pay, or both, and that would be the first tool that you would wanna use before a website.
The second tool might be our templates for social media. Additionally, we have scripts for outreach, so those are gonna be more important than building your website until you've reached, at minimum one to $2,000, in revenue in your business.
So if you're ready to stop overthinking, which I know all of us do, and start earning, I really want you to consider joining. Dietitian Boss Library where we give you access to so many outreach scripts, hundreds of lessons, templates, and we even have certificates also for clinical case studies, sales scenarios, and even how you present your offer.
So just remember that you became a Dietitian to help people and not to spend months building a website that nobody visits yet, because you possibly created your website prematurely. [00:07:00] So let's get you in front of those clients now, right inside the Dietitian Boston Library, you get access to. Done for you tools to help you start posting, start pitching and start selling, and start feeling confident in client sessions, even if your clients are resistant, right?
