[00:00:00] If you're looking to grow your business as a registered dietitian, you've come to the right place. If you're not sure what to do or what steps to take next so that you can create flexibility and freedom in your life, then you're going to learn a lot from tuning into our podcast here at Dietitian Boss.
[00:00:17] I'm Libby Rothschild, the founder of Dietitian Boss, a fellow [00:00:20] registered dietitian and business owner. And in our podcast, I share the highs and the lows, and I talk all about how to grow your business. Get it started and I interview our clients to date. We've had over 200 interviews from clients who share their journey on our podcast dietitian boss.
[00:00:37] Libby: One question I get a lot. It [00:00:40] includes how to speed up time when you're creating content to attract people online. So in today's episode, I want to talk about the art of repurposing and how to turn one piece of content into multiple touch points. So welcome to today's episode. This is a game changing content strategy that I'm sharing today.
[00:00:58] Libby: So maybe you're an advanced [00:01:00] dietitian managing a thriving practice and a thriving business, or you're a newcomer. And you're still building your presence, but repurposing, no matter where you are in your journey, will allow you to maximize every piece of content that you create. Imagine taking one idea and transforming it into multiple touch points across platforms to [00:01:20] expand your reach and attract more clients.
[00:01:21] Libby: Now, that's what we're going to talk about today. So if you're ready to simplify your content creation and amplify your impact, I want you to join our monthly membership called the library. We offer support templates. Outlined examples and live calls that I host every month to help you execute strategies like this [00:01:40] seamlessly.
[00:01:40] Libby: So you can get started today, head over to dietitianboss. com to learn how to join. So the first tip I want to share is why is repurposing a game changer? So firstly, you as a dietitian do not want to experience burnout. You want to maximize your time and effort, and it can feel challenging when you have a bunch of competing [00:02:00] priorities.
[00:02:00] Libby: Creating content is time intensive. It's going to take effort and you don't want to let a blog post or an Instagram caption work for you only one time. So repurposing allows you one idea that can reach your audience in multiple formats and on multiple [00:02:20] platforms. This has really been a game changer for us here at Dietitian Boss and for our clients.
[00:02:25] Libby: It's going to make you feel more at ease when you have a simple system to allow one piece of content to go further. For example, I recently took one of these episodes, which I do fairly regularly, a podcast episode, and then I go [00:02:40] ahead and I take parts of the episode and I put them into regular email newsletter that I send to our subscribers.
[00:02:47] Libby: I also take that same content and I put it into our stories on Instagram and I repurpose the content into tips for our social media posts on Instagram. So the same concept of one piece of content that you can use in [00:03:00] multiple ways is going to help save you hours of time the way it's helped save our team hours of time at this point, I'm hands off on most of the process.
[00:03:08] Libby: My team does most of it. I do the podcast episodes and the solo episodes. My team does a lot of the rest of it, the scheduling, the creation, the formatting, et cetera. So what are the benefits of [00:03:20] repurposing, meaning you're taking one piece of content and using it in other ways on other multiple touch points.
[00:03:25] Libby: Firstly, you can increase visibility, which for us dietitians is really important if we want to be seen as an expert and we want to have an opportunity to land more clients. So you can reach your audience wherever they are on social media, in their email inbox, and even through your [00:03:40] podcast if you're hosting one or through someone else's podcast if you show up as a guest.
[00:03:44] Libby: So you can. Reinforce your messaging, which is important because we all need to constantly let people know what it is that we can help them with and why they need the outcome that we sell. So hearing the same message in different ways does build trust, and it [00:04:00] reinforces your authority, and that's how people are going to remember you, and they're going to want to pay for your products and services.
[00:04:07] Libby: Lastly, the big benefit of repurposing includes time efficiency, so you're going to spend less time creating. Which can be the time suck and more time engaging with people who are interested in what you have to [00:04:20] sell and engaging with the community that you've built. So repurposing lets you stay consistent without burnout.
[00:04:26] Libby: And that's why I'm such a huge. Fan, there's so many different ways to do it. So let me give you an action tip. I want you to start with one high value piece of content, like let's say a blog post, a podcast like this one, or maybe a [00:04:40] webinar if you've caught one and plan three ways to repurpose that piece of content.
[00:04:44] Libby: Let me give you an example. A blog post can be turned into. Key points for social media caption, a podcast episode can expand the blog's topic with personal insights and email sequence. You can create a three part email [00:05:00] series offering deeper insights. So if you need help, our membership does provide templates and step by step outlines, which will help you repurpose content effectively and with our feedback.
[00:05:10] Libby: So we're right there with you, rooting you on and helping you make adjustments. Now, the next tip I want to give you is your chosen right type of content. So you want to [00:05:20] start with repurposing more of a high value piece of content. This could also be referred to as your anchor content. And that will be the foundation for your repurposing.
[00:05:30] Libby: So again, if you're blogging, it could be a blog post. Or it could be a podcast episode. Maybe it's an Instagram post, but I want you to think about what piece of [00:05:40] content will be your foundational content for us. It's our podcast. We've tried with YouTube, but we found that our podcast is our anchor content.
[00:05:48] Libby: So for those dietitians out there who are advanced in your practice and who are. Further along down your journey, I want you to consider creating webinars on niche specific topics like meal planning for diabetes. [00:06:00] And for newer dietitians, I want you to start with FAQ style blogs or beginner friendly guides, like five steps to meal prep, if that fits within your specialty, right?
[00:06:09] Libby: So I'm giving tips for everybody who can benefit from learning what type of content should they create to then repurpose from. So let me give you another example of anchor content. It could be a blog post titled [00:06:20] 10 dietitian approved snacks for kids with food allergies or webinar may be titled something like managing type two diabetes through nutrition or a podcast episode like how to meal prep like a pro in 2025.
[00:06:32] Libby: So in terms of an actionable tip, anchor content, like the examples above, should address a key pain point for your [00:06:40] audience, meaning underlying issues and concerns that they have. What are they really struggling with? So I want you to use client questions or social media polls to decide on a topic. So you're engaging with people to learn what they might want to then.
[00:06:54] Libby: Clarify what your topic is, but make sure your topic does speak to one of their underlying pain points. [00:07:00] Again, their concerns. So I don't want you to worry about this process if it feels daunting because our membership does include examples and processes to help you create effective anchor content next.
[00:07:12] Libby: Think about transforming content across platforms. So there's a multi channel approach, meaning with your social media posts, you can turn this [00:07:20] anchor content into bite sized tips like carousels. That's what we do from our anchor content of our podcast episodes or reels.
[00:07:28] Libby: For example, blog posts about reducing sugar can become an Instagram post titled three sneaky sources of sugar, right? So you're taking the same content, but you're changing up the format. So you're not pulling the entire [00:07:40] blog onto carousel slides. You're pulling pieces of the blog. Into carousel posts.
[00:07:45] Libby: So for emails, you can summarize the blog into email newsletter format, and then make sure to use a call to action to read the full post, or you can create it. What's called a drip sequence, sharing different parts of your blog over a week. So that means you might schedule [00:08:00] one email on a Monday, the second email on a Wednesday, the third email on a Thursday, that would be called a drip sequence.
[00:08:05] Libby: Each email containing some tips, and action steps that were all from that anchor blog content. So then for podcasts, you can expand on the content with personal stories, advanced strategies, or you can just pull the content from the [00:08:20] podcast. What I do is I use chat GPT to summarize the transcript of each episode and then pull the transcript into bite sized pieces of content and carousel format.
[00:08:30] Libby: And I play around a little bit with chat GPT to make sure that it's valuable enough. I do the same thing when it comes to summarizing for newsletters, in terms of what can I do that will be [00:08:40] actionable tips to send to our weekly emails for our community that have subscribed to our emails.
[00:08:45] Libby: So examples of repurposing, again, webinar, you could use slides. To create Instagram carousel, so the webinar information, you can pull from it and put it onto carousels on Instagram podcast episodes. You could write a LinkedIn article from podcast episodes, or [00:09:00] again, you could do more Instagram carousels or reels.
[00:09:02] Libby: If you wanted a blog post, you could split it into threads, Instagram threads, Instagram captions. You could also do email marketing, so into weekly newsletters or drip campaigns. So actionable tip here would be to craft compelling headlines for repurposed content. So, for [00:09:20] example, if you've got headline that says three low sodium snacks, you would want to improve that by saying three low sodium snacks that are dietitian recommended, right? Immediately, that's a better headline. So then, if you want to create a more engaging version of that, you might say, you'll never guess the ingredients in these three snacks, [00:09:40] right? So I want you to really think about creating compelling headlines.
[00:09:43] Libby: From your repurposed content. So let's assume you had originally written a blog post and you're taking the content, but you're just shifting a little bit of the language to make it more meaningful when it comes to how you're going to communicate that language on your repurposed piece of content. [00:10:00]
[00:10:00] Libby: So, keep caption simple at first, and then you can build complexity as you gain confidence. Remember, you're creating a system, so you want to start small and build over time. And inside of our membership, we do offer templates for creating captions, carousels, and emails to simplify the process. We've already written them for you, so you just need to plug, play, and adjust them for your [00:10:20] audience and your calls to action. So the next tip would be to use tools and templates to simplify, which I can't stress enough. I wish I did this more earlier on in my journey. Effortless repurposing starts with having a template on hand. So you don't want to reinvent the wheel. You might've heard that in terms of content creation.
[00:10:36] Libby: Every time it's not going to be this new prolific Creative [00:10:40] bout of energy. Use tools to make the repurposing faster, and you can have tools on hand by saving a template. Let's say if your Google workspace, you have a Google document saved that you just have to duplicate every time you're creating a piece of content.
[00:10:55] Libby: So templates can save time and they ensure consistency. Another example of a template would be [00:11:00] templates inside of Canva. So if you have a template for what you want a carousel to be, you're just Duplicating that carousel every time you create a new carousel because you're changing the words just a little bit, the language, but you have that same template, which will be the base for where you're creating the post on.
[00:11:15] Libby: So you want to design these posts or even email layouts using Canva or premade [00:11:20] graphics. We do offer those as well in our membership. So you have access to templates that make the process faster for you. Now, automation can help as well. You can use tools like Canva on the paid version to schedule your repurpose content across platforms, or you can use Meta, which is inside of And we actually use Meta. We've tried using Canva, but we currently use Meta [00:11:40] to schedule our content for Instagram posting ahead of time. So next I want to talk about managing your content repurposing over time. So I want you to focus on few key features at a time. So it's normal to focus on just one platform at first.
[00:11:55] Libby: You don't want to overwhelm yourself by trying to be everywhere all at once. So once you [00:12:00] master one channel, then you can go on to the next. For example, maybe you first want to repurpose one of your anchor content pieces like your podcast. Into email newsletter. And then after you're comfortable with it, then you want to also repurpose that content onto Instagram in the form of carousels or reels.
[00:12:17] Libby: So start with one platform [00:12:20] and then expand as you're consistent and you get more comfortable and you feel like you have a good flow. So as an action tip here, plan your repurposing schedule for the week. Use a simple calendar to track which platforms you're going to post and when you're going to post them.
[00:12:36] Libby: And our membership does offer detailed workflows to help you stay organized [00:12:40] and consistent in your journey so that you can start to avoid burnout without limiting your exposure to your audience on the internet. So as a conclusion, as a recap here, repurposing content is key. To working smarter, not harder, you want to start with high value, anchor content and transform it across [00:13:00] multiple platforms and use tools and templates to streamline the process.
[00:13:04] Libby: So it's not a creative journey that you're going down here. You're really just plugging and playing the tools you have and switching a few things up. It's going to help you tremendously. Remember that this strategy is going to save you time and help you expand your reach so that you can build your authority, which is [00:13:20] really important.
